Paving the way for future writers, Jane Austen wrote novels such as “Pride and Prejudice”, “Emma” and “Sense and Sensibility” at a time when female writers were not so high profile. She was no wall flower for her time and this dress is a reminder of the romantic and somewhat controversial characters Austen portrayed in her novels.
